Anxiety Attack Symptoms

May 6th, 2009 by aanasmith

Anxiety does not always have to be a negative thing. In some cases, feeling anxious prompts and encourages us to act. However, when the anxiousness overwhelms a person and that individual loses control over his stress, fear, then cracks under pressure and uncontrollable emotions and actions emerge, then it is now considered to be an anxiety attack. It is a mental disorder caused by great fear, pressure, intense feeling and other mentally stressful situations or possibly combinations of them.

Anxiety appears in many forms, and they all cause mental distress. Millions of people suffer from clinical chronic anxiety disorders leading to panic attacks. Anxiety encompasses many various disorders, such as panic disorders, intense phobias, and post-traumatic stress. Anxiety can also manifest as sudden fear of an unknown cause.

Anxiety Attacks are probably the most extreme form of a reaction a person will have when they are feeling extremely anxious. Certainly and person suffering from anxiety attacks will find that their anxiety has reached such a level that the symptoms cause them to experience other symptoms which will exceed what one would normally expect to experienceduring an anxiety reaction. It is during this time when a person will then suffer from an anxiety attack. In this article we will take a look at anxiety attacks and symptoms.

Anyone who has experienced anxiety attack symptoms can attest to the fact that they can physically “hurt.” The physical symptoms of an anxiety attack can include body aches and pains, headaches, upset stomach, chest pains, tingling sensations in the extremities or dizziness, just to name a few.

For some people unfortunately the level of anxiety that they feel can increase and they find themselves in a position where they have no control over the situation in which they are in. Some people who say for example have difficulty speaking in public may find that their symptoms are triggered not just by this but by other things as well. They suddenly find it difficult when speaking to others on the phone or when they even have to deal with their co-workers. These people then find it extremely difficult to cope with their careers and may over time actually find themselves in positions where their anxiety can be triggered.

Symptoms

This is the most common physical symptoms for anxiety attacks. This fear is mostly irrational and illogical. Sufferer is always in a state of worry that something wrong is about to happen to him soon.

Hypertension Causes, Symptoms and Cure

May 6th, 2009 by aanasmith

Hypertension or high blood pressure is usually defined as having a blood pressure reading equal to or above 160 (systolic) over 95 (diastolic). Some of the most common precursors of hypertension are arteriosclerosis and/or atherosclerosis. The cholesterol plaque build-up as a result of atherosclerosis and the hardening of the arteries brought about by arteriosclerosis can both lead to the constriction of the blood vessels and the imminent elevation of a person’s blood pressure.

Blood pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. Blood pressure is the result of two forces: from the heart as it pumps blood into the arteries and throughout the circulatory system, and the force of the arteries as they resist blood flow. Blood pressure is measured by putting a blood pressure cuff around your arm, inflating the cuff and listening for the flow of blood. It is always given as these two numbers, the systolic and diastolic pressures and is traditionally measured with a device called a sphygmomanometer.

The best way to find out if you have increase in your pressure level is to get regular checkups with your doctor. It will be measured with a sphygmomanometer, or blood pressure monitor. A cuff is placed around your upper arm, and it is inflated until it feels very tight. The doctor or nurse will listen through a stethoscope placed beneath this cuff to measure the pressure level. Normal level is 120/80 or lower. The upper number is the systolic measurement, which is the active pumping of the blood from the ventricles into the arteries.

The signs and symptoms of renal insufficiency may be similar to those of renal failure, depending on the degree of kidney involvement. If your patient’s kidneys lose the ability to concentrate urine, he may develop polyuria and nocturia. If his renal disease is untreated and renal failure progresses, he may develop oliguria. His urine may have a low specific gravity and a high sodium concentration. Also, it may be bloody or tea colored and contain casts and high concentrations of red blood cells (RBCs) and white blood cells (WBCs).

What Causes Hypertension?

Sometimes abnormalities of the kidney are responsible. There is also a study wherein the researchers identified more common contributing factors such as heredity, obesity, and lack of physical activity. Therefore, what can be done to lower blood pressure and avoid the risk of developing hypertension? Again, exercise seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

The problem with high blood pressure is that there are no symptoms. From an early age we learn that our body signals us if something is wrong. We get pain or itching, we throw up or get diarrhea, we get a fever or the chills, our eyes water, we get dizzy and so on. So for something like high blood pressure that is silent; it is easy for us to not to bother to get tested, and if pressure is elevated to ignore it.

Natural cure for high blood pressure that most likely explains the reduction of hypertension in Europeans compared to Americans is in the health significance of grape juice and red wine. Grapes are known to contain antioxidants and other phytonutrients (nutrients derived from plants). They have a small amount of fiber that is good for the heart and digestive system. Both grape juice and red wine are rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Makeup Tips – Ways to Look Beautiful

April 30th, 2009 by aanasmith

Makeup should never be something that is used to hide yourself away. It should be something which is used only to accentuate your beauty, and keep you happy and feeling wonderful. But it can take a lot of time, and effort. Sometimes more than we have to spare. So here are some quick top makeup tips to help you look fantastic, in minutes.

Eyes: Nothing looks worse than a beautiful face masked with running black mascara. Unfortunately, the beach is one of the prime places for this makeup disaster to transpire. Between the blistering temperatures, the ocean, and the pool, your bound to have moisture of some type ruin your makeup. This makes the number one beach makeup must have water proof mascara. If you don’t have waterproof mascara you’re better off just going without it and preventing the dreaded raccoon eyes.

Wide-set eyes: Use darker colors on the inner corners of the eye.

Hooded eyes: Apply light colors on the lid. Use darker colors from the center of the eyelid to the outer corners and blend.

Round eyes: Make round eyes longer by using color all around and extending toward the outer corners.

Asian eyes: Apply highlighter under the brow. Use light shadow on the inner half of the lid and a darker color on the outer half.

Use blush as a lipstick, then use clear gloss or lip balm over it. Longer staying power. Natural ingredients have been used for centuries as makeup: apply beet juice to lips and cheeks as a stain,or mix it with melted bees wax to make your own lip balm! Cayenne pepper can plump the lips, but use with caution!Use eye makeup remover to treat super dry, chapped lips. It’s a great nighttime lip treatment!

Tips for Nail Care

Spigot your nails on a rigid surface daily. Tapping nails results in stimulating nail escalation. Maintain your nails dirt free with a top quality nail sweep. Neither cut your nails excessively small nor let them to grow up too lengthy. Make use of a file to outline your nails & a shield to level away defects. Remove nail polish once in every week to allow your nails to breathe in.

Go easy using bright colors on your eyes, as on pale skin they tend to be a bit too much. Try soft pastels, sheer shimmers and natural hues with warm undertones. A little mascara is good too. If your iris is pale then you may need to wear a taupe liner to frame your eyes. Groom your eyebrows and line with a blonde brow powder or smudged pencil. Cheek color is where you can bring a little more than the usual natural glow into your coloring. You need richer tones like sheer plum cheek tints and go for a deeper shade of lipstick.

Hangover Causes, Symptoms and Cure

April 30th, 2009 by aanasmith

The complete cure for the hangover method is to avoid the drinking of alcohol completely. There are some effective tips for the cures of the hangover in proper manners. The problem of hangover occurs because of the excessive drinking of the alcohol. The common problems caused by hangover problems are fatigue, dizziness, nausea, jitters and vomiting. Sometimes people also face the problem of dehydration that leads to the headache and general pain problems. You should need to know some tips that help you to avoid these types of common symptoms of hangover in the morning.

Hangovers are a hateful ill caused by over-drinking, great times the night before are often replaced by a range of needling symptoms. These may include a severe headache, sensitivity to loud noise and bright light, diarrhea, loss of appetite, shaking, nausea, fatigue, dehydration, inability to concentrate and anxiety. A number of factors contribute to how severe a hangover may be, of course these include how much the person has to drink and the tolerance of the individual. Other contributing factors include drinking on an empty stomach and lack of sleep.

Over consumption of alcohol invariably results in a hangover; just how much alcohol is necessary to produce one depends on the biochemical individuality of the consumer, and the type of drink consumed. Distilled liquors, such as whiskey and gin, have a more immediate impact than wines or beers, and all alcohol is absorbed more quickly when mixed with a carbonated beverage. Once in the bloodstream, alcohol reaches the brain in minutes. At first it acts as a stimulant, producing euphoria. This soon gives way to central nervous system depression and feelings of numbness, and finally to sleep or unconsciousness.

Don’t take any headache medicine when you get home. Many people think these tablets will help them prevent hangovers, but what actually happens is that Aspirin will upset the stomach and will increase the chances of a hangover. The leading ingredient in analgesics, Acetaminophen (or Paracetamol) can cause your liver to explode when it mixes with your alcohol still in your body. Just drink lots of water.

Fruit juice contains fructose, a form of sugar that helps the body burn alcohol faster that helps accelerate the removal of remaining alcohol in your body. So drinking a large glass of apple juice or tomato juice flushes out alcohol from your body thus helping you recover from a hangover faster. Orange juice is more acidic and if you have a weak stomach, it’s best to stick to non-acidic juices.

Water before bed. Dehydration is a huge cause of a hangover. Your body loses a ton of water when you drink alcohol, which is a diaretic and causes you to have to urinate a lot more than normal. Drinking as much water as possible before bed prevents the morning after headache and extreme thirst. The reason you have a headache after drinking is primarily because your body takes stored water from your brain to replace what alcohol takes away, making your head feel like it is being squeezed with a vice the next morning. Always try to drink a glass of water before bed. A sports drink would also help if you need some flavor.

Hair Loss Treatment

April 14th, 2009 by aanasmith

Hair loss is a serious problem for those above 35, especially men. Most people grow frustrated with the many hair loss remedies because they simply don’t deliver what was promised. Hair loss can lead to many problems, including low self-esteem, emotional stress and even poor communication skills. If you are looking for herbs to remedy your hair loss problems, you have come to the right place. Here are some herbs that you can use for your hair loss problems. They can help to increase the blood circulation in your scalp and stimulate hair growth as well.

Hair loss in women in not an uncommon phenomenon, however most of it happens without the woman knowing anything about it. They just do not bother to take care of their till doomsday is upon them. For quite some time a few strands of hair has being coming out of their scalp, but they never bothered to think about it, till one fine morning.

You’ll find a plethora of treatments for hair loss that will all attest to being the most effective but in fact there are only three treatments that have been approved by the FDA. This means that they have undergone extensive clinical and scientific testing in order to prove not only their efficacy but also their safety in treating hair loss.

DHT is the leading cause of hair loss in men and a contributor to thinning in women.  DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is created by the conversion of 5 alpha reductase enzymes from testosterone.  Dihydrotestosterone restricts blood flow and nutrition delivery to the follicles and thereby acts to “strangle” the follicle roots, bulb and cuticle - leading to shedding, loss and advanced thinning.

Dealing With DHT At Ease

For most part of any baldness treatment, it is focused in inhibiting DHT from blocking hair follicles. With that being said, DHT is what causes baldness. So to deal with DHT effortlessly, there are many ways. First of all, you can use any conventional drug for alopecia. Or you can opt to use herbal remedies instead. Since using drugs to cure hair loss brings certain harm and negative side effects to your body I don’t really recommend using them.

An effective solution for both men and women is Provillus, a supplement that takes it one step forward helping with hair re-growth. Although a relative new product Provillus is rated the top hair loss prevention product. No side effects have been reported for this product rich in nutrients that will get back your hair stronger and healthier guaranteed! It is only common sense though to read about the product and its ingredients. If at any point you are uncomfortable with using it consult a doctor.

The most common cause of hair loss is hereditary. The term androgenic alopecia is commonly used for baldness that is naturally occurring. It is not considered a disorder or a disease. It is simply part of the genetic composition of men and women whose family line has this condition. When such hair loss occurs, what should be done? Is there a remedy to stop it? Should you opt for hair replacement immediately?

Although this is not inherently bad, many of these companies charge an arm and a leg for products that are chemically based, pose a risk of skin irritation, and damage to the environment.

Warts – Types and Treatment

March 30th, 2009 by aanasmith

Warts are a familiar occurrence for many people, and are caused by either a viral infection, or because they are contagious when touched by the skin of a sufferer, but what indeed are warts? In fact warts are actually benign tumors of the epidermis caused by a virus specifically by the human papilloma virus (HPV). For most of the time lumps are typically painless, bar those on the soles of the feet. Routinely if you have a wart it will be skin-coloured and feel somewhat tough on the skin, but they can also be other shapes and colours.

Warts not only happen in adults, but are seen in children as well. Sometimes the virus passes from a mother to a new born child. Warts are contagious and so can spread from one person to another when someone directly touches the warts of the affected individual. And it can definitely spread through direct sex. Protection during sex such as wearing a condom may not be enough to stop an infiltration.

You can transmit warts from your hands to your genitals and vice versa

No you can’t. The types of HPV causing genital warts are different strains to those causing warts on your body elsewhere. If your child has genital warts, he or she has been sexually abused and needs to receive medical attention and counselling immediately.
Types

Common warts - mostly found on fingers, hands, knees, and elbows, where the skin has been broken. These are also called “seed” warts because the blood vessels to the wart produce black dots that look like seeds.

Plantar warts - found on the bottom of the foot (known as verruca). They can be very uncomfortable - like walking on a small stone.

Having to suffer with warts, whether common warts, planters warts, or even genital warts is no fun. Along the road to finding out how to treat warts, it will help you make a better treatment selection if you know what causes warts and the different types of warts. This article will explore the main causes and types of warts, and lead to treatment options for wart removal.

Topical ointments are also available over the counter, but their effectiveness varies with every individual. All these treatments depend on the reaction of the body and the extent of the infection. It would be wise to seek medical help if you have warts so that proper treatment can be administered.

Natural Remedy

First of all peel the banana. Cut a small piece of the skin and apply it directly to the wart, this can be held in place using a piece of tape or a band aid. This method is best done overnight, and can be repeated until the wart has completely gone. This natural remedy will not make them disappear immediately, a couple of weeks is needed before you will see any positive results.

How to Get Rid of Acne

March 30th, 2009 by aanasmith

Acne is a chronic disorder of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Some of the characteristics of acne include black heads, pimples, cysts, infected abscesses, and rarely scarring. Acne usually occurs during adolescence in both men and women. To be more specific, acne starts during puberty and tends to get worse for people with oily skin. Acne badly affects teenage boys. Only mild to moderate forms of acne occur in middle-aged women. Acne can be seen most commonly on the face.

To get rid of acne, you have to understand what causes it in the first place. All in all, the formation of acne pimples a pretty complicated process that even scientists and dermatologists don’t fully understand. What is known though, can be summed up in a fairly simple manner – Acne bacteria (p. acnes) get trapped inside a pore (hair follicle). The bacteria then feed upon the sebum (oil) trapped inside the pore, and multiply, causing an infection.

There are many types of acne, but the most common form occurs during the teenage years when young adults experience a dramatic increase in hormone levels. These hormones signal the skin glands to produce more oil. When this oil mixes with dead cells, it can clog pores in the skin and trap bacteria as well. The result is often a raised tissue area characterized by swelling, redness, and pus. These bumps are also known as “pimples,” the symptom most commonly associated with acne.

The common symptoms of acne include persistent, recurrent red spots or swellings on the skin known as pimples. The pimples become inflamed and get filled with pus. The pimples usually occur on the face, chest, shoulders, neck, or upper portion of the back. Some of the other symptoms include dark spots with open pores at the center, which are known as blackheads, bulged spots under the skin without openings, which are known as whiteheads, and red swellings or lumps filled with pus, which are known as pustules.

Acne or pimples affects almost everybody. Though most pimples heal without leaving any scar, some severe acne leave scars, pits, uneven skin on healing. As pimples mostly affect face, scars and pits look unsightly. Although not life threatening, acne can cause depression and low self esteem. There are many acne scar treatments available to people now.

While this inescapable skin affliction is destroying your precious face, you are not completely aware how to get rid of acne. Luckily, nowadays medicine has improved a lot and you will come across plenty of information, which will help you to get rid of acne. What have you done in order to get rid of acne so far? Have you already seen skin doctor? Are you still destroying your face with drugstore creams and gels? If you are sure that you want to get rid of acne, first you should take a trip to the dermatologist.

More successful over the counter acne treatments involve the use of topical antibiotics such as Benzoyl peroxide. These treatments, typically in topical cream form, directly kill the bacteria that cause acne. These topical antibiotics kill the bacteria using oxidation, so it is impossible for bacterial to develop resistance. Caution should be taken when using oxidizing antibacterial treatments since they can also bleach clothing and fabric.

Jaundice Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

December 12th, 2008 by aanasmith

Jaundice in newborns and babies typically will occur due to the infants immature liver is not yet efficient enough to remove Bilirubin from the baby;s bloodstream. Bilirubin is the regular pigment created when the red blood cells begin breaking down in the body. This is typically processed by the liver which is then used and passed through in the baby’s stool. Jaundice occurs when their body is creating too much Bilirubin. Also it could occur if the liver is not extracting it fast enough.

Jaundice is a malfunction of the liver when too much of bilirubin is produced and the liver is unable to remove it, or if the liver has a defect and cannot remove the bilirubin from the blood and the third reason is when the bile duct is blocked and the flow of bilirubin and bile to the intestines is restricted. The bile duct could be blocked for several reasons like if the person has gall stones, cancer or an inflammation of the bile duct.

Jaundice may be caused by a diseased or damaged liver which affects the normal secretion of bile pigment. The flow of bile from the liver to the intestines may be blocked by gallstones, tumors or parasites. This type of jaundice is characterized by clay-colored stools and light yellow or brownish-green urine. The liver is enlarged in this case and could be damaged unless the obstruction is removed.

Jaundice is a symptom of hepatitis, jaundice causes your skin and your eyes appear yellow. The yellow color of the skin and eyes are caused by an excess amount of bilirubin. Bilirubin is a yellow chemical in hemoglobin which builds up in the body when the liver cannot handle the blood cells as they break down, body and your skin may look yellow.

Causes

The high level of bilirubin is the main cause of jaundice. However, it is better that we are able to understand how this chemical component of the blood is being released. The red blood cells are the ones responsible with the bilirubin. When these cells get old, they are naturally destroyed. Since the blood cells are the carriers of iron-content called hemoglobin that carries oxygen in the blood, this chemical is released from the destroyed cells.

Babies are born with a generous supply of red blood cells, which help transport oxygen. Over time, these red blood cells break down, forming bilirubin in the process.
Bilirubin is normally transported to the liver, where it’s processed before being eliminated from the body. But newborns initially have more bilirubin than their livers can handle, and the excess causes their skin and, sometimes, the whites of their eyes to turn yellow.

Berberis (Berberis vulgaris)

Berberis is a very effective herb for all kinds of liver ailments, especially jaundice. So effective is the herb that it is nicknamed ‘jaundice berry’. It is a bitter tonic which must be given to a jaundice patient several times a day in does of quarter teaspoons. The fluid extract of the fruit also has similar properties.

Wash your face with lots of water after this, leaving it perfectly clean and free of the products, and then pat your face dry. This whole process must be done gently - scrubbing at zits will not make them go away, but will in fact damage the surrounding skin with possible scarring.

Depending on where you live and whether these ingredients are available there would be the only criteria. Some of the home remedies for zits are from oriental and Asian countries while others are available quite easily everywhere. Most of the remedies have healing properties and get rid of the inflammation of the zits and pimples leaving a small scab which dries up and falls off soon.

Citrus fruit rubbed on the face has been one of the home remedies for zits if you apply the juice directly on the mark. By the following day, the zit should be all but gone, or at least improved. Try adding the citrus juice to some green tea and applying it to the face. Both are good to use separately but great together.
